Challenges We Address

  • Low reading, writing, and math achievements in Kindergarten-12 levels

  • Lack of adequate teachers

  • Lack of adequate practical job-relevant skills and knowledge acquired by students in school

Leadership Team

Dr. Topraj Gurung
President

Topraj works in technology in Silicon Valley in the US, and has previously worked at Google and Facebook. He got his PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. He has worked tirelessly on education initiatives in Nepal.

Prof. Omprakash Gnawali
Director

Born and raised in Nepal, Prof. Gnawali studied at MIT, USC, and Stanford and now is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Houston. He spends substantial time directing initiatives that have large impact in education, health, and development in Nepal.

Prof. Bishnu Gautam
Director

Bishnu is a professor at Kanazawa Gakuin University in Japan, and was previously a professor at Wakkanai Hokusei Gakuen University. He has made major contributions to Nepal's education sector through international partnerships between Nepalese and Japanese universities.

Partnerships

Our current work is done in partnership with Teach for Nepal and University of Houston. We are looking for additional financial and program partnerships who share our vision and want to join our initiative.

Ongoing Initiatives

  • Initial prototype of a digital learning platform that has been piloted with 5000 students in Nepal.

  • Technology Hackathon with teams from 12 colleges and universities and 6 teams from industry organized in Kathmandu, Nepal.

  • Research and academic collaboration between Nepal/Japan and Nepal/USA institutions.
